ABA Therapy Round Rock

ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) therapy is an evidence-based therapeutic approach used to help people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) develop skills and improve behaviors that are important for daily life.

ABA therapy is most commonly used to teach children on the autism spectrum but may also be helpful for adults and children with other developmental disabilities, such as Down Syndrome or cerebral palsy.

ABA therapy at Empower is provided in a 1:1 setting in most scenarios. A therapy program typically involves a series of targeted interventions tailored specifically for the individual, based on their diagnosis, age, and individual needs. The ABA therapist will regularly assess progress and adjust the intervention plan to ensure it is addressing the individual’s goals. Learners focus on learning through play and some structured learning times, similar to a school-type setting, with the support of a dedicated clinician working with them 1:1 at all times. Learners move around the clinic from room to room finding games, toys, science experiments, baking activities, and more as they work on practicing their skills and goals through fun activities that interest them.

Interventions used in ABA therapy are assent-based and may include reinforcement, non-aversive behavior reduction techniques, verbal and visual prompts, modeling, and prompting. Depending on the goals and objective of therapy, other research-based interventions like mindfulness and other emotional regulation techniques to empower the child and support executive functioning and higher-level social skills may be incorporated.

ABA therapy is offered by a variety of providers and Board-Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs). In Round Rock, there are several providers who specialize in providing ABA therapy to individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities.
